Over 1,000 People Presumed Dead After Landslide Reportedly ‘Leveled’ Entire Village in Sudan

On August 31, 2025, a deadly landslide struck the village of Tarasin in western Sudan, killing people, according to local sources. The entire village was destroyed, with only one known survivor. The disaster has left communities devastated, worsened ongoing displacement, and added pressure to Sudan’s already severe humanitarian crisis. Difficult terrain, heavy rain, and conflict are making rescue and relief efforts nearly impossible.

We at Amajid Darfur Humanitarian Aid are heartbroken by the tragic landslide that struck the village of Tarasin in the Marrah Mountains.
To the families who have lost loved ones, homes, and a sense of safety—we extend our deepest condolences. This is a loss beyond measure, and we grieve with you.
In this time of unimaginable sorrow, we want you to know: you are not alone. Amajid stands beside you, committed to doing everything we can to support relief, recovery, and rebuilding.
We honor the memory of those who were lost and we hold space for the pain of those left behind.
May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may comfort and healing find every heart touched by this tragedy.
